Our next union meeting is scheduled for Thursday,June 18 beginning at 6:00 pm, one hour early so that a special meeting for the allocation of our $2.00 increase in the field construction agreement. This meeting will take place at the Northwestern Ohio Building Trades office located at 909 Front St., in East Toledo. The month of July and August will also be at this location due to our scheduled builing renovations. As always we hope to see you there.

Local 85 will be having Common Arc on August 25,26,27,and 28,2009. We will be testing for MIG Plate, Carbon Steel Plate, Carbon Steel Tig, Stainless Steel Tig, and 6010 root. If you wish to participate contact Matt in the first August to sign up at 419-666-9724

In month of January (ONLY) dues will be 36.50 for field work, and shop dues will be 38.50, BUT starting in February 2009 the monthy field dues will go up to 36.65 and the monthy shop dues will go up to 38.65 for the rest of the year.

RETIREES: Please do not forget that on June 16,2009 we are going to Put-in-Bay.We will meet at Millers Ferry on Catawba Island , the cost is $11.00 per person for the trip, parking is free.WE will meet at the ticket office at 10:30am, Discount coupons are available at www.Millersferry.com, reservation required by May 19 or contact Jim Vermilyea at 419-862-2753, then on July 20 they will be having Lunch at Blackberry Corners on State Route 579 and Elliston Trowbridge Rd, Martin Ohio at 1:00pm, August 7 they will be a Pelle Island Dinner/Wine tasting Trip (Canada) on the Jet Express, Cost is $85.00 per person,a U.S. Passport is required. The Local's annual golf outing for member's and retired member will be held on Saturday June 20, 2009 beginning at 8:00am at Sugar Creek Golf Course. The cost is 40:00 per golfer, retiree's are free. You can sign up at the Union Hall or contact Steve Coffman at 419-260-0991. The Deadline for signing up and paying your fees is Friday June 12, 2009. We will also be having Journeyman upgrade classes at the training center June, this will be for GTAW & SMAW welding to get members ready for the Common Arc Testing in August, if you are a member of local 85 and are interested please contact Paul Mcgrew at 419-666-7761


We wood like to give our condolences to the family of retired member Russell Wood who passed away recently. Our condolences are also offered to the Jagielski brothers whose father passed away and Wes Cunningham whose father also passed away. Also to all sick and distressed members and thier famalies. On a better note, Congratulations to Tim Barker and his wife on the birth of a baby boy and to Ryan Strayer and his wife on the birth of a baby girl.
